Waterfox variations from Mozilla Firefox norms

A shortlist. I might like to attend to some of the preferences below after, say, a refresh of Waterfox.

Neither orderly, nor intended to be comprehensive …

Video statistics – media.video_stats.enabled

media.gmp-gmpopenh264.version

Firefox 60.0.2,1

1.7.0

At about:addons the OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems, Inc. plug-in is:

automatically installed by Mozilla to comply with the WebRTC specification and to enable WebRTC calls with devices that require the H.264 video codec. Visit http://www.openh264.org/ to view the codec source code and learn more about the implementation.

about:plugins shows that the plug-in is enabled, with reference to a file, maybe a directory file, in my 'everyday' profile:

/home/grahamperrin/.mozilla/firefox/q0ogc2x6.everyday-1522426377402/gmp-gmpopenh264/1.7.0

However …

File system

  • whilst /home/grahamperrin/.mozilla/firefox/q0ogc2x6.everyday-1522426377402/ exists
  • /home/grahamperrin/.mozilla/firefox/q0ogc2x6.everyday-1522426377402/gmp-gmpopenh264/ does not;
$ ls -ahlrt /home/grahamperrin/.mozilla/firefox/q0ogc2x6.everyday-1522426377402/gmp
total 10

Waterfox 56.2.0.31_3

No version – no preference.

about:plugins is confusing:

OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems, Inc.

File:
Path:
Version: null
State: Enabled

I wonder whether Waterfox is losing, or has lost, support for WebRTC calls with devices that require the H.264 video codec.

@jbeich please see above, https://gist.github.com/grahamperrin/aebf423341863643864e1986a40fc501#gistcomment-2614814 – the file system discrepancy in my Firefox case. Might this be a www/firefox bug?
