Self-Reflection

  • What is your experience with calendaring and time-management? In my previous job, I was given a list of teachers to work with at different locations and it was my responsibility to create my weekly schedule, which included the purpose, location, and a brief summary of what was accomplished. As such, I'm well-versed in using Google calendar to outline my day and can use it as a tool to help me manage my time to complete various assignments/projects. I have also learned to build in time to check/write emails, schedule tasks, and to include a "catch-up" block in case I fall behind.
  • How do you think these time-management strategies will be helpful to you throughout your time at Turing? Since some activities and concepts might take longer than others, using the aformentioned strategies will help me make sure I'm not only completing the projects, but taking time to really practice and understand the concepts. The "catch-up" block will be a great way for me to plan for unexpected tasks that take longer or concepts that require more practice.
  • What will be your biggest challenge as you start using this calendar to manage your time? My biggest challenge will be taking the time to create my weekly calendar and updating it as things change. While I write this, I'm an hour behind my original schedule, so taking the time to adjust my calendar to reflect this will be key for having the calendar be a helpful tool rather than just another to-do item.
