  • Audience

Define Audience

  • Direct

  • Peripheral

  • Fans

  • Skeptics

Analgous Inspiration: Where else can we look for the thing we're trying to accomplish

Activities to help you along the way:

  • Observe Peers
  • Collage/Draw (observe their thought process)

Immersion - Go there.

Ideation

Should Accomplish:

  • How do I make sense of what I learned?
  • How do I turn my learnings into an opportunity
  • How do I prototype
  • How do I know it's working?

Steps:

  • Collect learnings (stickies) and group them
  • Share stories
  • Rank top 5 ideas
  • Find themes (e.g. Women's needs)
  • For each theme, create common insight statements (e.g. "Reliability drives routine")
  • Create "How Might We" statements for each insight
  • Brainstorm - generate a ton of ideas.
    • Defer judgment
    • Go for implausible ideas
    • Stay focused
    • One person at a time
    • Go for quanity
    • Group ideas
    • Draw them
    • Mash up
    • Compare ideas to your "How Might We"s
    • Vet them to your target audience

Prototype

  • Storyboard the journey
  • Role play
  • Build it
  • Business Model Canvas:
    • Key Partners
    • Key Activities (i.e.) what activities do our propositions require
    • Key Resources (e.g. distribution channels, customer relationships)
    • Key propositions (i.e. what problems are we helping to solve?)
    • Cost structure
    • Customer Relationships
    • Customer Segments (for whom are we creating value)
    • Channels (how do we reach people)
    • Revenue Streams (for what are we / our customers willing to pay)

Get Feedback

Integrate Feedback & Iterate

  • Share feedback
  • Synthesize
  • Iterate
  • Refine the idea, don't shoot for the perfect answer

IMPLEMENTATION

Live Prototyping

  • What are you testing
  • Logistics
  • A/B test
  • Iterate
  • Capture Feedback

Roadmap

  • Team
  • Calendar
  • Milestones
  • Responsibilities / Accountability

Resource Assessment

  • How to Distribute Your Solution,
  • Partners Needed
  • Capabilities (Skillsets) Necessary to Execute Solution

Build Partnerships

Ways to Grow

Four quadrants:

  • New Offerings
  • Existing Offerings
  • New Users
  • Existing Users

Where does your offering fall on the chart?

####Staff It

  • Internal
  • Exteral
  • Funders

Fund It

  • Grants
  • Donations
  • Crowd Funding
  • Selling / Subscribing

Pilot

Longer term test of the idea on a smaller scale, with less iteration / variables

  • How to differentiate from competition
  • How to get customers
  • Messaging
  • Collect Feedback on How Well It Is Working

Pitch

  • Context
  • Elevator Pitch
