Ramen Nagi (must)

  • In Golden Gai, which has a bunch of small bars.
  • Mixes fish and pork based borths, huge portions
  • How to order: walk-in, go upstairs, get ticket from vending machine. If seats are full, go back outside and wait in the alley.

Yakitori alley, Memory Lane (must)

  • Alley with old people selling yakitori and booze.
  • Pick a place, sit down, point at stuff you want to eat (it's all good) and feel like a salary man.

Fuunji Ramen (optional)

  • from what I remember, this place had my fave tsukemen
  • optional because likely to have long lines
  • if you go, order tsukemen and pour some tea in your left over dipping broth

Tsukiji

Sushi Zanmai (must)

  • Open 24/7, this is your sushi-for-breakfast-im-jetlagged-and-everythings-closed-in-the-AM destination
  • Very good cheap-tier sushi

Market (must)

  • Hopefully it's still there
  • Walk around and eat snacks: yakitori, uni, tamago on a stick (mustttttt)
  • other sushi and ramen places here too but not all 24/7

Ikebukuro Station

Taishoken (tai-sho-ken) (optional):

  • Dipping ramen was invented here
  • very peaceful, less busy
  • Dave Chang ate here!
  • if you’re around here, this is the ramen to eat

Akihabara

N3331 Train Views Coffee

  • coffee shop built on top of an old train station
  • view of subways passing by right in front of you
  • if you happen to be around here, Get some coffee and ice cream here and watch some trains.
