• What role does empathy play in your life and how has it helped you?

  • According to a CliftonStrengths assessment I had taken as a part of a previous role, Empathy was one of my top 5 strengths. To me, this means being uniquely attuned to the needs, emotions, and experiences of others. In my life this has been incredibly helpful in formulating genuine relationships with people in all aspects of my life from the students I've worked with in previous jobs, to coworkers, to friends and family. Empathy has helped me see things from different perspectives and to not rely solely on my own experience and perceptions, as there are truths to be uncovered by stepping into someone else's shoes.

• Empathy is critical to building better software. At the heart of software exists a tool that helps people accomplish something. This means that users, and delving into a deep understanding their unique needs and experiences, shape critical elements in software and

1. When you've worked towards a goal in the past, what systems or tools have been helpful for you in accomplishing that goal? How could you adapt those same systems/tools to use while at Turing?

   In the past, I've utilized to-do lists to help break down a larger project into smaller, actionable chunks. This approach uses a kaizen style philosophy, that small achievable steps end up being meaningful and substantial towards progress on a larger scale. I see myself using a similar approach toward making progress toward larger projects at turing by creating to-do lists broken down to the smallest elements.

2. As you start this new career, what is one of your strengths and how do you know?
