Machine Learning Interview Questions

Machine Learning Week 1 Quiz 2 (Linear Regression with One Variable) Stanford Coursera

Github repo for the Course: Stanford Machine Learning (Coursera)

Question 1

Consider the problem of predicting how well a student does in her second year of college/university, given how well she did in her first year.

Specifically, let x be equal to the number of "A" grades (including A-. A and A+ grades) that a student receives in their first year of college (freshmen year). We would like to predict the value of y, which we define as the number of "A" grades they get in their second year (sophomore year).

Check if a program exists from a bash script.Thanks to twitter.com/joshnesbitt and twitter.com/mheap for the help with detecting npm packages.
#!/bin/bash

# example
# echo "node: $(program_is_installed node)"
function program_is_installed {
# set to 1 initially
local return_=1

nodejs clustering, zero downtime deployment solutions

Clustering: The basics

The trick? pass the file descriptor from a parent process and have the server.listen reuse that descriptor. So multiprocess in their own memory space (but with ENV shared usually)

It does not balance, it leaves it to the kernel.

In the last nodejs > 0.8 there is a cluster module (functional although marked experimental)

GitHub OAuth Busy Developer's Guide

This is a quick guide to OAuth2 support in GitHub for developers. This is still experimental and could change at any moment. This Gist will serve as a living document until it becomes finalized at Develop.GitHub.com.

OAuth2 is a protocol that lets external apps request authorization to private details in your GitHub account without getting your password. All developers need to register their application before getting started.

Install Homebrew

Homebrew is a great little package manager for OS X. If you haven't already, installing it is pretty easy:

ruby -e "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.github.com/Homebrew/homebrew/go/install)"
