My new P5 wireless headphones have worked flawlessly with my iPhone 6 since I got them a few days ago, but I'm seeing a lot of problems with them when connecting to my Mac.
I have a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013) running macOS Sierra (10.12).
I'll describe the problems below. What I want to know is mostly: Are these known issues? Are they likely to be fixed in software updates? Do you know if they affect only some of your headphones (I've heard of other such issues), so a replacement might fix it? Any workarounds?
I'm a programmer, so techy workarounds are fine. I'm also happy to provide more details from logs or whatever. Let me know.
Issues I've seen so far, in two days of use:
-
Headphones are connected to my primary device, being my iPhone. I select Bluetooth menu > P5 > Connect on my Mac. Nothing happens. I pause music on my phone. Now I can connect.
-
I'm connected to the Mac, but suddenly I hear the "headphones disconnecting" sound, and they're disconnected. This happened while I was teleconferencing with someone (and thus actively speaking and listening). Happened today once about 20 minutes after connecting. Happened again later after about 10 minutes.
-
The play/pause button (and skipping songs with it) works with iTunes but not Spotify. Volume buttons work in both.
-
Earlier today, audio suddenly became very tinny (both what I heard and what my teleconferencing partner heard).
-
If I open the macOS Sounds prefpane and switch to the "Input" tab, the sound suddenly becomes tinny. (It has the P5 selected as the active input.) If I switch away, e.g. to the "Output" tab, audio cuts out briefly and then becomes un-tinny again.
