PythonAnywhere launches "Startup" Plan
== For immediate release ==
LONDON, United Kindgdom. PythonAnywhere LLP, the creators of the popular
browser-based Python development and hosting platform PythonAnywhere,
announced the launch of their higher-end "Startup" plan today.
CEO Giles Thomas said "We've been growing with our users, and many of
them have been hosting high-volume, high traffic sites with us for
months now, despite our plans being aimed at the small-business /
casual market to date. Our highest price point was $12 per month,
the new plan, at $99, signals that we're ready to take on customers
with serious scaling requirements"
PythonAnywhere's platform lets its users code Python applications
using only there web browsers, without any need to install software
on their local PC, or have a particular PC they use for development.
Its free teer offers all the basic functionality, a browser-based
editor, a personal, sandboxed operating system, and a fully-featured
console. Paid accounts start at $5 to allow unrestricted internet
and higher CPU usage, and $12 for users looking to host web applications
on the site.
The new Startup plan aims itself at customers who want to "start a business
and not worry about having to scale or handle traffic spikes". It includes
50Gb of storage, the ability to run 20 different sites, and enough CPU
and bandwidth to handle 700,000 hits per day.
PythonAnywhere have been testing their scaling capabilities over the last few
months against real-world use from their current customers. Thomas added "one
of our customers actually hit over 1 million hits a day, and we only noticed
when we checked our daily analytics. There was no noticeable effect on
performance".
The PythonAnywhere Startup Plan is available from today. Like all PythonAnywhere
plans, it includes a full no quibbles 30-day money back guarantee. More information
