How to Auction cards on Faceboook

  1. Edit your post, for each auction item post an individual pictures as a comment.

    • To bid on the item people will reply to that comment.
    • Typically when someone bids the auctioner will like the bid comment to show it was recieved.
    • Even if there were prior offers, you should have those people comment below the picture to show there was a bid on that item.
  2. Make sure you also comment and have an end time -- this will impact an auction a lot but you can't have an auction without one. Often people will also have anti-snipe rules.

  3. Anti-snipe

    • An anti-snipe rule stops people from over bidding at the last second to beat out someone who would want to bid more if they had time.
    • Typically an anti-snipe will say something like -- 12 hours. What this means is if there is more than one person bidding on an item then after the last bid there will be 12 hours after the last bid for the bidders in contention to bid a higher amount than the max.
    • Anti-snipe works best with good communication. Make sure that everyone who was in contention knows the anti-snipe started and when the new end time is. You can do this with messenger or the alert feature of facebook or both.
  4. Minimum and Reserve

    • You can set a minimum (often for each card). This is the least amount you expect for a starting bid.
    • You can also set a reserve for each card. This is the minmum you will accept for the card. If it does not make the minimum then the sale does not happen.
    • Why would these be different? (Shrug) They just are sometime.
  5. Make sure you are clear about shipping rules. Who pays for it. How much it is. Tracking options.

  6. You should include how you take payment in your action iformation post.
