Denver dreivers

Denver drivers

Description

Since arriving in Denver, I have noticed that Denver drivers do a whole range of semi-dangerous things on the road:

  • Changing lane with insufficient space
  • Lefthand turns in front of oncoming traffic
  • Running orange/red lights
  • Driving through totally red lights
  • Passing on the right on the highway

My personal theory is that the influx of drivers from many different states to live in Colorado has produced a mixture of driving styles and expectations that do not mix well.

A successful project would answer the questions:

  • Is there an elevated risk of accident in Denver?
  • What is the cause of this increased risk?

Data sources

  • *277 call data?
  • insurance claim data?
