About a year back there was this widespread spamming attempt in Bangalore where there was non-existent places popping up everywhere with the name of "Agarwal Pakcers and Movers". All of these places looked like this -
As the image and the description suggests, this place is a restaurant. But somebody edited this and modified the name, category, address and in some cases, phone numbers.
I edited and reported as many as I can. And after a month or so, they were gone.
Recently, in past couple of months, these have started to crawl back again. This is the state of UB City as I'm writing this -
As you can see The same thing has started again. This time they're targetting popular places like restaurants and malls and editing their name, address, phone number and website. In this case, the website is http://agarwal-pacers-and-moers-bangalore.business.site. As of now, there are some 30+ similar results in Bangalore, that are visible on first result page.
I just got to know that this is happening in Kolkata too. This is a popular restaurant in Kolkata -
There is a group of some of us google maps editors that look out for wrong informations and spams. And this issue is making our work really tough. We don't have enough hands as these spammers. We need some help from the Google maps team.
I'm sure they are aware of the issue as this has happened before. I'm not sure if they're paying attention this time. Because these spammers are editing places by bulk and their edits are going through.
We need some help with this.
