Abstracts

Our greatest moments are when we enable others to achieve more. As a front end ops engineer we are enablers and teachers.

To front end developers we remove roadblocks and distractions enabling them to be more efficient and focused on the problems they care about.

To product owners we are advocates of best practices and front end craftmanship.

To designers we are teachers of what decisions are difficult or harmful to the user experience to implement.

========

Our role as a front end operations engineer puts in the position to own a substantial cross road of the web applications experience. Our daily goals are to maintain the integrity and quality of the project to serve our users, colleagues, and stakeholders. As the masters of this domain, it is within our power to drive architectural choices and educate our teams. From developers to designers, product owners and users, we should strive to empower our companions to make better decisions and work faster.

We work to remove obstacles and weights from the application developers. We work to educate our colleagues and stakeholders of the impact of decisions. We work to ensure that the "why" is understood in all situations.

At our disposal is the knowledge we carry and the tools we wield. How do get budget for this? How do we get other developers caring about page weight and writing tests and git history? How do we get designers to consider the layout and rendering impact of the solutions they are creating?
