To compile my feedback

From Colin Working with Ilana was great. She had a very head on approach, and also made sure to assert herself on difficult tasks. It's clear she feels comfortable with rails and ruby and is really showing her knowledge. I think she should continue on this path as much as she can to progress. I feel at times she maybe too eager to be the project manager, which can be a huge strength in some groups, or could potentially create friction in others. In no way did that create friction in ours, but maybe something to keep in mind. Overall I'd be very happy to work with Ilana again. By all means, she has proven she's becoming an excellent dev, and especially with the emphasis on TDD on other great practices.

From Robbie This was the first project at Turing I got to work with Ilana on. I think Ilana really grew during this project by taking on responsibility for features even if she knew she was not comfortable with the topics. One thing I saw happen a couple times was when Ilana got frustrated with working on something, it seemed like she was rushing into code instead of doing some more background research or googling. It might help relieve some debugging stress to take a step back, look at some resources, and then revisit the code and try to solve the problem again. That being said, Ilana was great at communicating when she hit major roadblocks or needed a pairing session. One thing Ilana brought to our group was strong testing practices using FactoryGirl and great integration tests, which really gave us a lot of confidence to change code and refactor. I really enjoyed working with Ilana during the Pivot, and I hope we can work on another project together.

From Parker Ilana, working with you was my first opportunity to see that you a much stronger than you lead on. I have been in many of the imposter lunches with you, but had never been given the opportunity to code with you. I understand the lack of confidence feeling, but believe people when they tell you that you are a strong developer. Any task that we gave you during this project you accomplished well and in a timely manner. I was impressed with what we all saw from you. I feel you do have a tendency to get a little caught up on the smaller parts - and that might be stemming from my own fight to avoid doing that - instead of focusing on the grand scheme going on in the midst of the project. You are much stronger then you feel, and it will be exciting to see the bigger things you produce.

From Kerry I’m tempted to dust of the feedback I’ve given to Ilana in past modules, because all of the things I admire about Ilana continue to impress me… With that said, Rails Engine was the first project where Ilana and I have worked together. I really appreciated her lets-get-it-done attitude. Ilana really effectively calibrates the amount of effort to devote to something, and makes sound decisions on when to call it. Ilana is a skilled programmer, even though she doesn’t always realize it. Lastly, it was great to have Ilana involved in Pahlka this module, despite all of her other activities. People look up to Ilana and enjoy being around her.
