High and leaning toward buying a ticket to Poland to join the Ukrainian effort against Putin
Hey y'all,
So i haven't posted here before i think, but I've lived in or around Portland for about 10 years now. Love the
place.
Anyway i think i should go. I don't have much in the sense of responsibilities or dependants, just two adorable
cats whom i love, but i also have dependable friends who can care for them properly.
My job went down to covid reasons, but i was burnt out and depressed (breakup with an LTR—"the One"—followed
by years of overwork, doom-scrolling, and escapism), but i have an okay amount saved up 💎Thanks Keith!🙌 So
I'm on a health break. I do what i want, when i want, how i want, and now at almost 30M I'm as fit as I've ever
been. Also been getting reacquainted with that lovely herb. Lot of long walks and reflection too. Healthy body,
healthy mind and all that. Been feeling good, but Putin has been rather rude lately and that's brought me back to
reality.
That and Zelenskyy's bravery have resonated deeply with me. We need more leaders like him, and fewer like
Putin, Trump, Biden, etc., who are just greedy or fragile cogs in our corporate-run systems. I want to rally behind
him, and show the world that that kind of leader, that kind of person, can be successful. I have a few skills, I'm
healthy, and I'm passionate. I can contribute. I should go.
It would be hard, even if i have no formal ties of responsibility. I will miss my cats terribly. My best friend will likely
be able to take them, and she is caring and excellent with animals, and if not there are other great options. My
family, especially my parents, would be so worried. I got a motorcycle recently and that was scary enough for
them. This is much worse.
But other than that, nbd. I get a storage unit, hire some folks to help me pack everything out, over, and in, handle
business with the apartment folks and the postal service, keep my backpacking/sorta-bushcrafting gear with some
extra clothes and of course, the obligatory towel, and finally, have a tearfull goodbye with my cats. Boom.
Airport. Poland.
So i really think i should go.
But i am also pretty high.
So before i start moving my assets and comparing storage prices, i figure i should write of, sleep on, read up,
discuss, walk with, and consider the matter properly. Do i need a fireman to kick me off this ledge? Is anyone
looking for a travel companion from PDX? I want to know what people are thinking. Plz, Hivemind, bless me with
your sacred attention.
Thanks!
