TITLE: Lead software engineer

COMPANY: XIAG AG is a custom software development company with offices in Winterthur, Switzerland and
Novosibirsk, Russia. We build versatile Web and native applications, sometimes involving special
hardware integration, to meet our customers' needs with the maximum value.

We've successfully shipped dozens of software-centric solutions: touristic portals and agency tools,
booking engines, job platforms, inventory control systems, e-shops and e-commerce platforms – both
closed and public-facing, information gathering and analysis systems. Our code runs on the Web,
mobile devices, desktops, and interactive kiosks.

At XIAG we never compromise on quality and professionalism. At the same time, we seek simple
solutions, and believe that software is only a part of the whole picture, as we deliver value by
solving problems, not by typing code.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

You'll be a technical lead on 4–24 month projects, with up to 5 engineers and designers reporting to
you. You'll also maintain existing projects or take smaller new projects completely on your own.
The job involves:

* Direct communication with the customer and external service providers regarding all the technical
  questions
* Requirements engineering
* Writing user stories
* Estimation and iterations planning
* Software architecture design
* Keeping all the team members up to date
* Delegating tasks to the team
* Coordinating the deployment and operations
* Programming for at least 75% of your time

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience
* Extensive knowledge of Web technologies
* Good knowledge of Linux
* Excellent coding skills in a dynamically typed programming language
* Fluency in English

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Skills in PHP or server-side JavaScript – Node.js
* Experience with client-side JavaScript frameworks: React, Angular, Backbone, or alike
* Test-driven development skills
* Deep understanding of object-oriented- or functional programming
* Solid computer science background: fundamental algorithms and data structures
* Experience with configuration management tools: SaltStack, Puppet, or alike
* Speaking German
