Jail-breaking Enterprise or School Chromebooks

This page is to help you remove prying eyes from your chromebook. Though, Before rooting your chromebook you should know all local data will be lost and enterprise staff may be able to recognize.

Requirments

  • Screwdriver
  • Chromebook
  • All keys working

Removing the WP Screw

The WP or write protect screw keeps the chromebook alive and the DRM keeping your chromebook under the admin's reign once removing this screw your chromebook will reboot and startup signed-out then login to a diffrent account then your enterprises.

Booting in Developer Mode

Developer mode is for admins to 'develope' in what there really doing is use a no-code GUI in there chrome browser, To use this to our advantage you need to follow the below steps.

  1. Press and hold the esc + reload + power-key until a white screen with text pops up.
  2. Press Ctrl + D to skip the Verification phase, then Enter and a number should appear.
  3. After the chromebook reboots you may see the white screen again just type Ctrl + D again.
  4. To revert to normal press Space during the OS-Verification page you will lose all data.
