GitHub supports several lightweight markup languages for documentation; the most popular ones (generally, not just at GitHub) are Markdown and reStructuredText. There was a [great article][1] about how react implements it's virtual DOM. There are some really interesting ideas in there but they are deeply buried in the implementation of the React framework.
However, it's possible to implement just the virtual DOM and diff algorithm on it's own as a set of independent modules.
