πŸ‘‹πŸ» Hello there! Learn about me here.

πŸ‘‹ Hello! My name is Jack LaFond.

Hi there! My name is Jack LaFond, and I'm a 18 year old student in the United States.

πŸ“š My backstory

Since around age 7, I always had an interest in how websites were made. I always wanted to impress my friends with Inspect Element on my school libraries to impress my friends. Every time I did that I was always amazed by the underside of the code. Shortly after, I started to take the basic HTML lessons on Khan Academy. From there, I fell in love with development. Between ages 7-10, I mostly focused on web development, until around age 11/12 I started to dabble in Python. Shortly after came the discovery of JavaScript, and from there my love of development soared. Since then, I have attended JavaScript programming classes at the (now closed) Iron Yard.

❓ So what's next?

Since writing this Gist almost 2 years ago, I wanted to learn Swift and Objective-C - unfortunately things took a bit of a turn and I instead focused on my Python proficiency. I've now become quite fluent in Python, which allowed me to create a small freelance development service that sold automation solutions to clients. I've also become quite familiar with TypeScript recently - a good friend introduced me to the wonderful world of type-safe programming and since then I've been on a roll with taking on new projects for the sole purpose of learning it.
