Organized Religion

###Glossary

  • Priest - Player represented by a pawn
  • Convert - Converted group of people represented by an infection piece.
  • Fervor - The number of religious groups that will sprout up between turns, indicated by "infection rate."
  • Riot - When a city with 3 converts on it receives another convert, the adjacent cities receive one additional convert instead.
  • Invalidation - Causes such distress amongst the nation that 2 converts/city are removed on a particular sect.

###Overview

The organized religion variant of pandemic is a competitive variant where each player represents a priest of a religion. Each priest should be associated with an convert color. The object of the game is to spread your own religion as much as possible before the game end occurs.

Each player starts game by rolling a dice. Use roll offs to determine highest roll. Starting from the highest scoring player, place your pieces on the board in a clockwise fashion (players piece placement also determines associated religion). Then from the last player to place his piece in a counter-clockwise fashion, pick your specialities.

A city with two or more different sects represents a city under religious unrest. Until resolved, riots will not spread from this city to surrounding cities.

A city card drawn will place the sect of the dominant religion on that city. When there is no dominant religion, the color of the card shall be the sect on that city.

###Possible Religious Orders

  • Inquisition - Imprisons all converts on a city (removes them from the board)
  • Templars - May teleport any priest, including himself, to a city within 2 connections of his current city. Once per priest per turn.
  • Scientist - May invalidate an opposing religion with 4 cards of the same color.
  • Something - May build airports which can be used as "teleporters" to move from city to city. Anyone can use these, but a player in a city with one causes it to be blocked to other players.
  • Fatwa - You have 6 actions per turn. ^^ more powerful than prophet
  • Prophet - Preach only takes two actions instead of three.

###Actions

  • Martyrdom - As an immediate action, if another player removes one or more converts from your city, if you have that city card, you may play it to receive 2 converts there. Any riots that occur as a result of that action will occur immediately before the player's next action. This immediate action acts as one of your actions on your next turn.
  • Movement - May move to an adjacent city as one action.
  • Accuse - Removes one convert
  • Preach - Converts one convert from an opposing religion to your own. This counts as three actions.
  • Invalidate - If you have 5 cards of the color of a sect you may invalidate it.
  • Trade - A 1-1 trade may occur. 1 action/card cost to the person whose turn it is.
  • Spread Gospel - Adds one convert to current city as long as it does not cause a riot. Worth 2 actions.
