Sprinkle on salmon, chicken wings, roast root vegetables, popcorn, or whatever.
It's salt-free. I prefer to salt each dish individually.
The quantities below make just under 1/2 C. I use this most times I cook. If you're worried about not using it all within about 6 months, halve the recipe.
- 5 t garlic powder; I like Penzey's roasted garlic powder
- 5 t onion powder; I like Penzey's toasted onion powder
- 1-2 T whole black peppercorns; I like Penzey's Telicherry and Special Extra Bold Indian
- 1 T thyme
- 2 t celery seed, whole
- 2 t paprika; I like Penzey's Hungarian half-sharp, but smoked, sweet, or a mix of the two works great as well
- 2 t orange peel; lemon peel would be great, too
- 2 t oregano
- 1/2 t whole fennel seed
- Crush peppercorns and fennel seed with mortar & pestle
- Mix all
