"I would like to write a letter in support of Ahmed Al Rawe. Ahmed was one of our foreign DDS students. These students are dentists that typically have been practicing in other countries that come to UNLV SDM to complete an accelerated 2.5 year program that will fulfill their requirements to get a dental license in the US. This program presents challenges as an instructor as each student comes from a different background with various levels of training. Ahmed was always a good student who was eager to learn and improve his skills and I enjoyed teaching him.\nAs it relates to endodontics Ahmed was a strong and mature student with good clinical skills. He was teachable which is important as an instructor as some students want to practice based on how they were taught or practiced in their respective country which may not be efficient or clinically acceptable compared to the standards we have in the US.\nAhmed has been in private practice since graduation in 2022 and has also been teaching one half day per week in the endodontic clinic at UNLV SDM. Ahmed has the temperament, experience, patience, and skillset to be a competent endodontist. He completed upwards of 20 molars as a student and was always enjoyable to have in the clinic.\nI give full support to Ahmed for consideration into your endodontic program.\n\n\nBenjamin J. Barborka DMD\nAssistant Professor in Residence UNLV SDM\nLas Vegas Endodontics - Owner",
"He has made the transition to this culture, which can be difficult",
"He has adopted American traditions, socially and professionally",
"He was one of the production leaders in endodontics in his class",
"He always sought clinical evaluation of his cases",
"He blends well with students, faculty and staff.",
"He passed all courses which were given in English, not his first language. He is totally fluent in English.",
"He passed all of his clinical and didactic courses",
"I have been asked to write a letter of recommendation for Dr. Al Rawe who is applying to your postgraduate program in endodontics. Ahmed is a 2022 UNLV, School of Dental Medicine graduate. He was an international student who completed the two-year program and earned his American DDS degree.\n\nAhmed performed well overall within his class but he was particularly interested in endodontics. He completed endodontic therapy for over 10 molars in addition to his five required non-molar teeth. He treated many Vital Pulp Therapy cases and was a good diagnostician of odontogenic pain. Therefore, he had extensive experiences in endodontics during his program here.\n\nAfter graduation, he entered private practice but simultaneously volunteered ½ day per week in the Endodontics Department. He was reliable with his volunteer time.\n\nI feel that Ahmed would be a good resident in a program with a priority for clinical production. I cannot gauge his research ability but I can comment with authority on his clinical skills. Therefore, I recommend him for an interview.",
"He is chronologically older that his classmates and was mature upon entering the International Program at UNLV.",
"I have not seen his clinical skills but my understanding is that he was really good in endo clinic",
"No experience with his organizational skills",
"Tanya Al-Talib, DDS, MSO. D. ABDSM\nAssociate Professor in Residence- Orthodontics\n1001 Shadow Lane, MC 7422, Las Vegas, NV 89106, (702)774-2677, Tanya.al-talib@unlv.edu \n\nMay30th, 2023\n\n\n\nDear Selection Committee;\n\n I am writing this letter in recommendation of Ahmed Al Rawe whom I have known for almost three years. I have worked with Ahmed in my capacity as an associate professor at UNLV and the preclinical orthodontic didactic, preclinical simulation faculty. I have had the opportunity to work closely with him during his rotations in the orthodontic clinic. Ahmed has demonstrated good patient management skills, problem solving skills, and care for the patients. In addition, I found that Ahmed to be an honest, ethical, hard working person, and a team player. \n Ahmed is a DDS advanced standing student who has a 3.72 GPA and # 3 rank in a class of 7 students. His GPA is comparable to the top 20% students in the DMD program. While in dental school, Ahmed has volunteered for the Sgt. Ferrin Memorial clinics, children's clinics, and the Huntridge women's clinic. In 2009, Ahmed worked with US Army in Iraq to help build businesses and to provide the service of rebuilding his war torn country. In addition, He has volunteered to teach in the endodontic clinic supervising dental students.\nAhmed has worked as a research assistant with one of our residents. Ahmed had two publications in 2019. Finally, Ahmed has taken on leadership roles as Class President in dental college and a sports team leader.\n\n Finally, I highly recommend Ahmed for your esteemed endodontic residency program and I know he would be a great addition to your program due to his passion for endodontics. Please do not hesitate to contact me for further information. \n\n\nSincerely;\n \nTanya Al-Talib, DDS, MSO, D. ABDSM",
"At UNLV School of Dental Medicine, our student doctors are groomed and shaped to conduct themselves in an ethical manner governed by a strict professional code of conduct. As a student, Dr. Al Rawe's ethical behavior demonstrated respect for patients and their unique needs and values. His character raised no concern or red flags to our faculty or staff.",
"I am submitting this Dean's letter on behalf of Dr. Ahmed B. Al Rawe who graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine DDS program in May 2022. Dr. Al Rawe's final gpa was 3.745 and ranked #3 in a class size of 7 peers. Unfortunately, I am unable to comment on his clinical abilities and experiences here at SDM due to the limited nature of my interaction with him. Nor do I have any information on the period from May to October 2022. What I do know that as a DDS applicant, Dr. Al Rawe presented with competitive statistics, passion for the field and extensive dental experiences both in Iraq and in the US. Considering the amount of years he has dedicated to the field of dentistry thus far, it is admirable that he would like to focus his knowledge base in the field of Endodontics. He has been a volunteer faculty since Jan of this year in the Endodontic clinic. Dr. Ronald Lemon will be able to provide you with more information and his assessment of Dr. Al Rawe as an endodontic resident. I recommend him for consideration to see if he is a good fit for you program. Thank you."]
