Inkscape Tips

Copy part of an object

  1. Draw a rectangle covering everything you want to copy
  2. Press Ctrl+A to select all objects
  3. Object > Clip > Set
  4. Only the parts that were covered will be left

Center objects on page

  1. Select all objects you want to center
  2. Object > Align and Distribute (or Ctrl+Shift+A)
  3. Choose 'Relative to: Page', tick 'Treat selection as group'
  4. Press the third buttons in both the first two rows of icons (center horizontally and vertically)

Working with layers

  1. Create a new layer with Ctrl+Shif+N
  2. Move objects between layers by selecting them and pressing Shift+PgUp/PgDown.
  3. Change layers using Ctrl+PgUp/PgDown
