Information on the Programming Languages Repescagem Test

As discussed before, the Repescagem Test will consist in two quizzes with a similar structure to the previous quizzes used in this course.

Schedule

The repescagem test will be on the 23rd of July 2020 (Thursday). It will be available in Quizzes Tutor from 11:30 (Lisbon time).

The repescagem test consists of two separate quizzes. If you only intend to participate in the second quiz, you only need to be online from 12:30 (Lisbon time).

The full schedule is:

Quiz 1 (Test 1)

  • 11:30 -- 11:37: LP RepTest1: Part 1, 7 Questions (7 minutes)

  • 11:37 -- 11:38: 1-minute break

  • 11:38 -- 11:45: LP RepTest1: Part 2, 7 Questions (7 minutes)

  • 11:45 -- 11:46: 1-minute break

  • 11:46 -- 11:52: LP RepTest1: Part 3, 6 Questions (6 minutes)

Students should be available until 12:30 in case some part needs to be repeated.

Quiz 2 (Test 2)

  • 12:30 -- 12:37: LP RepTest2: Part 1, 7 Questions (7 minutes)

  • 12:37 -- 12:38: 1-minute break

  • 12:38 -- 12:45: LP RepTest2: Part 2, 7 Questions (7 minutes)

  • 12:45 -- 12:46: 1-minute break

  • 12:46 -- 12:52: LP RepTest2: Part 3, 6 Questions (6 minutes)

Students should be available until 13:30 in case some part needs to be repeated.

Important: the name of the six parts will start with LP RPTest. There might be other quizzes in the system. Ensure that you answer the quizzes whose name start with LP RPTest

How will my grade be calculated?

Each correct answer is worth 1 point. Additionally, each incorrect answer results in a decrease of 0.3 points. Therefore, guessing is not recomended! There is no penalty for skipped questions. For each quiz, parts 1 and 2 are worth at most 7 points; parts 3 are worth at most 6 points. The quiz grade will be calculated as

> Final grade = Part 1 + Part 2 + Part 3

Recommendations

  1. Since incorrect answers incur a penalty, avoid guessing.
  2. If you need support during the test, João will be available on Slack. A Zoom session might be started, if necessary.
  3. Avoid refreshing the page as you might be logged off and you'll waste time. To update the page without refreshing the page, you can swap between different views (for example, swap between available and solved quizzes)
  4. If the system does not behave as expected or if you find any difficulties (e.g. images not showing, presentation errors), take screenshots so that you can present evidence of the problem.
  5. Changing between windows or tabs during the test might cause delays in the timers. The recommendation is to avoid changing tabs and windows during each quiz.
  6. If something goes wrong during one of the quizzes, keep calm and carry on solving the other parts. At the end of the quiz, João will check if your answers were recorded; if not, you might be given a new set of questions.
