This document describes what building a real estate website entails using Def Method. With this information and your feedback I can ballpark a price.
I've looked at a couple of sites that are similar to what I think you need. Note that I chose these sites because they serve the function you described. The form varies wildly:
- http://www.thecarltonhouse.vlg4.com/ (warning: this one is agonizing to click through!)
We can build sites like the above (but cleaner, more responsive, less error-prone, etc...). For sites like this we charge a fixed rate for construction and then a monthly fee for hosting and maintenance. The variable that most impacts price is how much custom design is needed.
This component involves everything we do to make a high-functioning, responsive website with text, images, and embedded video. It includes:
- constructing the pages and adding digital content
- providing a Content Management System (CMS), if necessary
- infrastructural components like integrating with Heroku
- implementing exception tracking software and other safety
The amount of content you have is less important than the complexity of the site. A site with 10 pages that contain nothing but text, photos, and embedded videos is easier to build than a single-page app with tons of bells and whistles. Decide on the basic content and functionality of the site. Also decide if you need a CMS, which provides an admin (such as yourself) the ability to change text or images or upload news and events to the site as needed.
We like to host and monitor the applications we build. This way we're able to track or anticipate problems - bugs or performance issues, for example - and make the changes we need seamlessly. Maintaining our own applications also gives you the ability to call on us whenever changes are needed. We often build a certain number of design changes or feature requests into the maintenance cost.
How much custom design will your site need? Do you have a brand and/or a logo for the real estate property? Will the website have any customized behaviors that require someone to design the interface or create a special workflow? The answers to these questions will have the largest impact on price.
For example, if you find a website that you really like and you want us to model your site after it, we can do this without a designer. If you need a designer but only to develop a couple of small assets, this typically will not substantially impact the price. On the other hand, if you want a designer to start from scratch and, in effect, "drive" the engineering process, this will be more expensive.
