feywild

Setup: the party has to follow a path set for them by a fey prince exactly. If they fall away from the path, they will be set upon by unimaginable horrors immediately, or something. (My players are risk-adverse and like rules.)

I rolled 1d20s on my own and I had the players roll the 1d8.

1d8 ENCOUNTERS
1 A night hag telling fortunes (winter court) — a forest made of literal bones. In order to gain passage, the travelers must have their fortunes told.
2 A cyclops herding woolly rhinos (summer court)
3 The path leads directly into a wide lake. The waters along the path are shallow, but there is a deep dropoff to the left or right.
4 1d6+1 Ettercaps with 2d4 Giant Spiders. It is clear that the giant spiders are some kind of domesticated creatures for their silk
5 A pavilion made of gold, silver, and what appears to be starlight — a sweet voice calls from within, promising excellent food and pleasure for whoever wants it (spring court)
6 A bridge over a creek in the middle of a field. On both sides of the bridge sits a small wooden bucket, inside each of which is a collection of metal trinkets: nails, pins, thimbles, coins, etc. Trying to cross the bridge without depositing a similar item brings the wrath of the troll living beneath the bridge.
7 A field of carnivorous flowers. Save vs falling asleep for d4 hours.
8 A dance floor, populated with laughing, grinning fey of all sizes and varieties. This is the dance of the autumn court. The path leads directly through it. (autumn court)
1d20 SCENERY
1 An overgrown brook flows through a high-sided valley. Chalk giants are carved on one side; one has a shrine to the power of the Hunt.
2 These dismal fens are marked by sharp brambles and reddish grass. A rare herb grows here, sought for curses and poisons
3 Towering spires of crystal grow from the moss-covered ground. Thunder and lightning herald an incoming storm.
4 A reed-filled stream burbles through a green pasture. Faerie lights flit in the water and grass. Currently it is raining.
5 A withered hedge covered in big red berries. Some are delicious and some are poisonous. Many rodents live in the hedge
6 The path leads directly into what appears to be a rock wall. There is a cave entrance a few dozen feet to the right. Walking through the rock wall enters them into a tunnel.
7 You come across a table. At it, 8 kings squabble. They all have the same name.
8 A friendly mimic walks up and happily begs for pats, and if he does not get pats, he grows very loud, just like a cat.
9 A mountain range where each mountain is a vibrant pastel color from the rainbow. Occasionally the mountains appear to change shape but that is merely an illusion.
10 A stream running uphill to a beautiful spring
11 A beautiful, multicolored forest. The leaves are every different color of the rainbow, and when inspected, they aren’t leaves at all, but instead thousands of butterflies perfectly still. The forest is very peaceful and seems to have a will of its own.
12 This plain has been magically cultivated into rambling fey gardens. The orchards and vineyards are kept by a herd of centaurs, and satyrs keep the lawns clipped uniformly. Great, multicolored, flightless birds roam leisurely through the gardens as their personal paradise.
13 A forest where all of the trees grow eyes at night. The eyes are either red, orange, or yellow. If a creature that can speak to plants walks into the forest at night then the trees will tell them of how they can see through the weak veil of reality.
14 A large grassy field where the grass is completely rigid. Ths field looks normal but a DC 13 investigation will reveal that the grass doesn't move with the wind. Anyone that steps on the grass will feel as if a thousand tiny daggers pierced their feet. The grass can be talked into letting the travelers pass.
15 This small gulf is populated by an unusual number of tortoises.
16 A petrified head of a storm giant. Rumored to have originated during the spawn of Medusa.
17 The singing fountain. A natural geyser bubbles and churns inside a naturally made stone well in the ground. If anything made of gold is tossed inside, distant voices begin to sing and the geyser puts on a small water show.
18 A huge crystal tree that looks like the night sky during the day and shines with daylight at night.
19 The base of a deep canyon, where there are twinkling lights embedded in the canyon walls.
20 A beautiful, if unstable, stone balances precariously on a minute point
