Frontend / React developer, Aeon Melbourne

Frontend / React developer, Aeon Melbourne

TL;DR: we are a growing editorial platform with some big ambitions and a sizeable user-base and are looking for a local frontend developer to help us reach the next level.

Who we are

Since September 2012, Aeon has been publishing some of the most profound and provocative thinking on the web. It asks the biggest questions and finds the freshest, most original answers, provided by world-leading authorities on science, philosophy and society. It was founded in London three years ago, and having recently relocated the head office to Melbourne, is now looking to further build our tech team here. We are located in the Melbourne CBD, opposite Fed Square.

What we need

We are now embarking on a new phase of growth, building a publishing platform and online community around our distinctive brand of content.

We are currently quite small, with one designer (@kolber), a Rails dev (github.com/matthiassiegel), and an assortment of talented contractors. We are looking for a mid–senior frontend developer to come in and join the team in a full-time capacity.

Why Aeon?

The goal here is to build something truly unique within the digital publishing space, and you’ll be in a strong position to shape the direction of the product.

Aeon is well-funded and looking to invest in the development team, which means access to whatever you need to get your job done effectively.

What else

We’re using React for our frontend components, so ideally you would have some previous experience working with this. A strong background in responsive HTML / CSS builds would be required, and some design skills / interest would definitely be beneficial. 🙂

🚢 We also run a fluid, CI-driven development process, so experience working with specs and acceptance testing would definitely be useful.

Desirable but not essential

  • Some working knowledge of Ruby on Rails
  • A basic understanding of dev-ops and linux environments.

If this sounds up your alley, or if you have any questions, please get in touch at tech@aeon.co.

Thanks!
