Installing mysql2 gem

Installing mysql2 gem

This is always an annoying process, especially when you are setting up a new computer. I assume you are using macOS + homebrew. I also assume that you want to run an older version of MySQL (although the instructions should be adaptable).

Installing MySQL

$ brew install mysql@5.7 # change the version if needed

How to start an nREPL using Clojure CLI tools using clj
$ clj -Sdeps '{:deps {org.clojure/tools.nrepl {:mvn/version "0.2.12"}}}'
Clojure 1.9.0
user=> (use '[clojure.tools.nrepl.server :only (start-server stop-server)])
nil
user=> (defonce server (start-server :port 7888))
#'user/server
;; now connect to port 7888. there's probably a way to do this in one line.
