Call For Volunteers

Girls, Inc Summer Camp and Coder Dojo Indy

Game Building Workshop, Ages 9-11

  • June 23rd 1pm - 6pm
  • June 24 - 28th, 11am - 12pm

Location: Fall Creek Academy, 2540 N Capitol Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46208

Coder Dojo Indy is facilitating a 5 hour Game Building workshop for approximately 30 girls, ages 9 - 11. We are looking for women and men to volunteer to help. The workshop will cover what a game is, modifying an existing physical game and then designing and constructing a game in groups of 3-4 girls. We are hoping for dedicated volunteers to show up for all 5 hours (1 hour per day), but welcome those who are only able to make a couple of days.

There will be a 5 hour volunteer training on June 23 from 1pm to 6pm that will include dinner afterwards. We will go over an accelerated version of the workshop focusing on getting volunteers proficient with Scratch. You don't need to be a professional programmer to volunteer. Most anyone with an engineering, programming, math or science background should be able to learn scratch well enough to assist workshop attendees.
