Recruiter Questions

General Questions

  • I’m a brand new recruiter. What are some things I need to know? What does my typical day consist of?
  • How many people do you talk to in a day?
  • Is there a task, besides phone calls, that consumes a large portion of your day?
  • What is your ideal method of contact? Does it change over time or by the candidate?

Candidate entry

  • What are some ways you might get a new lead? Is one of these more common than the others?
  • When you have a new lead how do you get more information about them?
  • How much and how deep of information do you gather about a candidate?
  • Do you ask the same set of questions to every potential candidate?
  • What are the steps that need to be completed before a new candidate is ready to be considered for openings? (references, background check, etc)
  • Is this process the same for every candidate?
  • How many candidates do you have in your pipeline?
  • Do you ever communicate or partner with other recruiters when gathering candidate info?

Job Order Entry

  • When you get a new job order, what do you do? Are there steps that need to be completed before you actually start recruiting for that job?
  • Do you ever communicate or partner with other recruiters when working on a job order?
  • Do you have a job order for everything you are recruiting?
  • How many job orders do you work on at once?
  • You have a job thats ready to be recruited for - what do you do next?

Employer

  • How much and how deep of information do you gather about an employer?

ATS

  • How do you match candidates to jobs?
  • How do you typically submit candidates for a job.
  • How many total candidates do you send through initially as a potential for a job order?
  • How do you keep track of the progress of each candidate through a Jobs hiring process
  • How do you handle scheduling communications (interviews, phone calls, etc) between the candidate and the employer
  • What is the pre-interview process like? Do you coach the candidate?
  • What is the post-interview process like? How do you follow up with the candidate and employer?
  • When a candidate receives an offer - how does that work? Does it come through us first? Do we present it to the candidate in a certain way?
  • What stage of the process takes the longest for you? Is the most complicated for you?

Organization

  • How do you currently store all the information you’ve gathered about a candidate?
  • How do you sort through all the information you’ve gathered about your candidates?
  • I would assume there is a lot of communication associated with a candidate and job. Notes, emails, schedules. How do you organize this?
  • How do you stay organized when dealing with multiple candidates, employers, and job orders

  • Are there any questions we should have asked but didn’t?
