What role does empathy play in your life and how has it helped you?
- I can be a bit of an empath. At times I can feel other emotions and give me inpressions of them. At times it is overwhelming and I have to block.
How does empathy help you build better software?
-Well one could see that you might have a different idea how or what the main point of the software would be. Where if you can empathize with the user you might have a different impression of what their best use of the software would be.
Why is empathy important for working on a team?
- because people would be able to work together more easily creating synergy.
Describe a situation in which your ability to empathize with a colleague or teammate was helpful.
- When I used to teach yoga. I was at a class where one teacher was giving up a C1 yoga class and another one was taking it over. After class the one giving up the class and taking on the C2 or next level class was a bit emontonal and taking up a lot of attention. I happened to talk to the other teacher taking on the C1 class this was a her first yoga class that she was teaching. I congratulated her on the class. I was later thanked by the manager for talking to the new teacher since it was such an emontional situation.
When do you find it most difficult to be empathetic in professional settings? How can you improve your skills when faced with these scenarios?
- I find it most challenging dealing with narcissists. I find that I need to be very straight forward and block any kind of attack or bait.
