We are looking for a talented front-end developer to join our Technology team. You will be responsible for building consumer-facing experiences and applications for our retailer/brand clients, and internal platform users.
You should be able to translate our company and clients’ needs into functional and appealing interactive experiences and applications that millions of shoppers will interact with. You are a tech-savvy professional, who is curious about new digital technologies and can achieve a balance of innovation, quality, and shipping speed.
- Design, prototype, build, collaborate on, and maintain front-end applications including 3rd party web applications which integrate simply and seamlessly with our clients’ web pages, across modern browsers and various device sizes.
- Optimize performance of front-end experiences
- Collaborate effectively with back-end developers, product team, and designers to analyze user needs in conjunction with company strategy, current systems, and resources, in order to scope and build solutions for maximum return on effort
- Contribute to functional requirement documents and guides
- Create quality mockups and prototypes
- Ensure high-quality graphic standards and brand consistency
- Quality portfolio and work experience as a front-end developer
- Excellent communication skills, including and especially written explanation & collaboration
- A propensity for thoroughness, in both work & communication
- ClojureScript knowledge and experience
- Modern JavaScript experience and proficiency
- Comfort with, or enthusiasm to learn, alternative syntax for defining markup & styles, like Hiccup, Sass, client-side template libraries, etc.
- Experience with modern JavaScript tooling (like npm, gulp, webpack, etc)
- Proficiency with modern CSS (or compile-to-CSS alternatives)
- Ability to work quickly and exercise judgment and lead discussion about the right level of polish & functional orientation (flexible, configurable vs. rigid, single clear purpose) for the task at hand
- An up-to-date knowledge of best practices (or your own proven and defensible practices) for keeping styles maintainable over the long term
- Proficiency in measuring and optimizing front-end performance
- Functional programming experience
- React.js experience
- Familiarity with browser testing and debugging
- Familiarity with design software and tools
- A product mindset
- Advanced skill with ClojureScript and/or Clojure
- Backend experience, particularly with Clojure, Ansible, Linux server environments, cloud platforms, and databases
- Experience working in or with the retail industry
- Experience working on, or integrating with, large retail e-commerce sites
- Experience working on, or integrating with adtech
- React Native or any native mobile app development experience
- TypeScript experience
- Proficiency with design software and tools
- Expertise in web performance optimization
- Proven ability to create clear & useful data visualizations in a variety of forms
