Mod 0 Reflections

Remote Collaboration Reflection

You've now experienced several remote classes in Mod 0. We want you to take some time to reflect on the following questions.

  1. Reflect on your experience in Breakout Rooms - how well did you engage with other students in your group? Did you notice times when you may have talked over other students? Were there times others talked over you?
  • I really enjoyed the breakout rooms. Everyone that I spent time with in breakout rooms was really easy to talk and work with. I didn't experience much talking over one another as everyone seemed to be very conscious of themselves and being as collaborative as possible to accomplish the assignment/task.
  1. Reflect on your experiences communicating via Slack - what has been challenging about this format of communcation? What wins have you experienced so far with using Slack as a communication tool?
  • I'm fortunate in that I've been using Slack over the last 4 years. The only feature that I use now that I haven't before is the inline code feature. I'm really happy that Turing uses Slack as it's highly customizable and creates a more engaging remote environment.

Time Management Reflection

Pull up the calendar you created for Mod 0 and use it to reflect on the following questions.

  1. How well have you stuck to the schedule/calendar you created? What has worked well so far?
  • I've managed to stick to the exact time blocks I created for HW. Unfortunately, I haven't been keeping up with my Mod 0 Project blocks. This is mostly due to me leaving my job in a few weeks and training my replacements/creating documents of any institutional knowledge I can leave behind before I go. Looking back, I probably should have left my job before starting Mod 0 instead of waiting to have my last day a week before Mod 1. I still feel really confident in what I've learned so far during the class sessions, but I would've liked more time to rest/unwind while digging deeper into the Mod 0 coursework on a daily basis.
  1. What areas of your calendar need to be adjusted for the remainder of Mod 0? What lessons have you learned that will help you in Mod 1 as it relates to time management?
  • I'll need to dedicate a lot of time to finishing up Section 1 and 2 this weekend. Going into Mod 1, I won't have a job, so that frees up a lot of time. I'm not too worried about time management since Turing will shift to my #1 focus for the next 7 months.
  1. How much of the Mod 0 Project have you completed?
  • Section 0 as of 04/13
