Akamon PHP software engineer

#PHP Software Engineer Location: Barcelona, Spain

Number of vacancies: a few

Salary: Paid depending on experience, team decides. (25k - 42k)

##Description Our software engineers are responsible for designing and delivering the high quality systems that drive Akamon server platform. Right now we are searching a software engineer specialist in PHP. We love t-shirt engineers, who know about wide range of technologies/fields but are expert on a few. We have a collaborative, fast-paced environment where knowledge sharing and collaboration is a must.

Your technical work environment will be our server platform which is hosted in AWS, is built on Symfony2 for all web facing functionality, connected to our Mysql servers, ElastiCache clusters and RabbitMQ to decouple our infrastructure/services. It's a DDDish architecture with some "fun" legacy.

You will be working at Akamon. Here we care our product and the team behind it. We believe in transparency, meritocracy, innovation and fun and we practice these values on daily basis. We have flexible working hours and vacation, food and beberages are free, paid international conferences, ping-pong, troll as a service and mac laptops.

###Technical skills requirements

  • Computer Science, Telecommunication Engineer, etc.
  • Have an excellent working knowledge of PHP and web application development
  • 3+ years of experience solving challenging problems related to web applications.
  • Strong will to adhere to best practices in OO development and a need to leave well-structured code in your tracks.
  • Knowledge of relational databases (MySQL) and other approaches to data management (redis, redshift would be great).
  • Good knowledge of testing practices (TDD, Unit tests, integration tests, BDD).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluent English, Spanish is must.

###Responsibilities

  • Build new funcionality as specified.
  • Refactor existing PHP code.
  • Implement and maintain automated tests, including UI tests.
  • Analyze and ensure security and system performance.
  • Debug issues on the web and mobile websites, based on user reports.
