How to set up a RPi as a Google Cloud Print server

Raspberry Pi installation

• Download the raspbian image
• Follow the installation guide for OS X
  • On OS X: When using the dd command, use path /dev/rdiskX instead of /dev/diskX
• For additional info, check this elinux.org wiki page

Configuration

• Enable WLAN
• Enable VNC
• Connect the printer via USB
• Install CUPS and add printer
• Open Leafpad and try to print Hello World
• Install cloudprint-service
  • Will require that you use an app-specific password
  • sudo service cloudprintd login; sudo service cloudprintd start

Notes

• Don't try to "just use chromium". It won't work headless.
• Don't try to follow Google's own headless tutorial. It's written for devop nerds way smarter than you.
