DTR: Define the Relationship

Use this template to when conducting DTR with your project partners. It's recommended that you copy/paste this template into your own gist each time you conduct a DTR to take notes on the conversation.

Guiding Questions to Define The Relationship:

  • What are each of our learning goals for this project? What drives us in this project? JavaScript Continue to improve on building responsive client-side applications with good user feedback Understand how to implement client-side data persistence using localStorage Understand what it looks like to have a separate data model (using a class) and DOM model Utilize data-* attributes Incorporate & iterate over arrays in order to filter what is being displayed Craft code with clean style, using small functions that show trends toward DRYness and SRP Helper functions

  • What is your collaboration style? How do you feel about pair programming vs. divide-and-conquer approaches? pair programming preference easier to talk through, splitting off when we are well established divide and conquor research.

  • How do you communicate best? How do you appreciate receiving communication from others? katy - directly. I appreciate direct communication. sam - in person, perfered. vanessa - open communication. i like active aggression rather then passive aggression.

  • How would you describe your work style? sam is a planner. vanessa constant check ins - same pager - making sure everyone understands whats going on. katy - go with the flower

  • What are each of our strengths? How can our strengths complement each other?

  • What’s gone well or poorly in your previous projects? sam - set goals, willing to stay and work took breaks, asked for help. no remote work. git hub flow. vanessa - not proper driver navigator pairing, not working together. Had a lot of comminication.
    katy - not proper diver navigator pairing. communication was great.

  • How will we set direction and make decisions as a team? what do we want to get done today? talking about what were doing and whats next. daily goal. weekly goal.

  • How will we overcome obstacles?

  • What do you need (resources, environment, communication) to do your best work?

  • What scheduling restraints do you have? What are your scheduling preferences? katy thursday morning i have a doctors appointment at 8:20. early morning worker.

  • What is your style for giving feedback? Does anything ever hold you back from giving feedback?

  • What do you identify as being your biggest strength(s) technically, as they relate to this project? Where do you feel you could use improvement in your technical skills, as they relate to this project? How can our team help support you in improving these skills?

  • What tools do you want to use to manage the project? slack, white-boarding, google clendar, sublime, browser, javascript book and other resources that will come up. github projects or trello

  • How do you want the group to solve problems when members run into issues with features of the project?

  • How do you know if a project is successful? How can we achieve that as a group? progress understanding new topics being proud at the end.

  • How will we recognize each other's successes and celebrate them? high fives.
