Subject: Ad blockers
Here are the two ad blockers I use and recommend:
Adblock Plus:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/adblock-plus/cfhdojbkjhnklbpkdaibdccddilifddb?hl=en-US
uBlock Origin:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ublock-origin/cjpalhdlnbpafiamejdnhcphjbkeiagm?hl=en-US
(Be aware that there are scammy ad-blockers with very similar names. These are the trustworthy ones.)
The big difference between the two is that by default Adblock Plus lets some ads through (which follow their Acceptable Ads policy[1]), and is slightly less likely to get in the way when I'm using legitimate sites.

uBlock Origin takes a harder line and blocks all ads, everywhere, and in exchange I’ve found it to be slightly more likely to get in the way when I’m using a legitimate site. (Although it’s easy to disable temporarily for an hour or so, or permanently, for individual sites.)
I’ve used them both, they both work, they’re both trustworthy, and either one is good hand-washing practice right now while Microsoft & Google & the rest of us are working on patches and larger fixes. :-)
