venv.fish - Automatically activate/deactivate virtualenv in fish shell
# Based on https://gist.github.com/bastibe/c0950e463ffdfdfada7adf149ae77c6f
# Changes:
# * Instead of overriding cd, we detect directory change. This allows the script to work
# for other means of cd, such as z.
# * Update syntax to work with new versions of fish.
# * Handle virtualenvs that are not located in the root of a git directory.
function __auto_source_venv --on-variable PWD --description "Activate/Deactivate virtualenv on directory change"
status --is-command-substitution; and return

Definitely prevent stubborn devices from being bound by the host driver in PCI passthrough scenario

Scenario

You're running a KVM-based virtualization. You want to do PCI/PCIe passthrough of some device. You don't want it to attach to the host OS at all.

Your device looks like that:

00:1f.2 SATA controller [0106]: Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller [8086:1c02] (rev 05)
Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family 6 port Desktop SATA AHCI Controller [103c:330d]
	Kernel driver in use: ahci
	Kernel modules: ahci

Unpack XIP on Linux

Unpacking XIP files on Linux:

  1. Install xar from https://mackyle.github.io/xar/
  2. Install pbzx from https://github.com/NiklasRosenstein/pbzx (use gcc -llzma -lxar -I /usr/local/include pbzx.c -o pbzx and copy the binary into your PATH)
  3. use xar -xf XIP_FILE -C /path/to/extract/to
  4. Change to the directory where you extracted the file.
  5. Use pbzx -n Content | cpio -i to extract the contents.
