content:SUBJECT: CHECKMATE Army and Marine Corps Info Sharing and Reporting Initiative1. BACKGROUND: CHECKMATE originated as a collaborative effort of CAC-CDID?s IED-D ICDT Battle Command lead and the BCBL(L), CIO/G-6-funded Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) pilot to prototype the development of simplified and structured data entry and management. A CHECKMATE presentation in Jan 09 to the JCOE (NTC) resulted in USMC co-sponsorship for a JIEDDO funding submission, which includes a 12 month product development, followed 6 months later by a USA BCT / USMC MEB training center assessment, and finally, an operational assessment in Afghanistan. 2. DESCRIPTION: CHECKMATE?s integrated C2 infrastructure potentially ties the tactical edge to C-IED national capabilities (e.g., COIC) through the Global Information Grid (GIG), and moves time-sensitive indications, warnings, and alerts to Soldiers and Marines. CHECKMATE will operate over existing low-bandwidth communications, will integrate into existing Army Battle Command systems, rifleman?s radio, and other non-ABCS systems along with USMC C2 systems, and will create an extension of Battle Command info infrastructure down to the company level.4. REQUIREMENTS: Through the automated sharing and management of data, CHECKMATE will address the inability to integrate info to attack the network (IED-D ICDT capability gap); DCGS-A?s need to integrate data (JUONS), and the lack of digital COP for dismounted elements (ONS). The SOA capability resident and dynamic data in this prototyping effort makes it distinct from existing systems (TIGR, CDNE, etc.). 5. SOCIALIZATION: In July, 2008, MG McCoy (then- IED-D ICDT Chair) endorsed to LTG Sorenson, Army CIO/G6, LTG Caldwell, CG CAC, and LTG Metz, Director, JIEDDO. Mr. Ormond, Deputy to CG CAC, requested assistance from MG Justice, PEO-C3T, in developing the transition plan (Apr 09). COL Moore (PM BC) will monitor CHECKMATE development for potential transition to a POR (Jul 09). The CAC-CDID team will present a CHECKMATE demonstration to LWN, BCAD, and AWD (Aug 09).defaultAnnots:nullencoding:MacRomanfeatures:{gate.SourceURL=created from String}markupAware:truenamedAnnotSets:nullnextAnnotationId:1126nextNodeId:1054sourceUrl:nullsourceUrlStartOffset:nullsourceUrlEndOffset:null
