• Identify where you're a rockstar/ninja/guru (and cut that mess out!)
• List off the unpretentious roles that comprise a dev position
• Identify where you are a plumber
• Identify where you are a first responder
• Identify where you're a legislator
• Identify where you're a repairperson
• List off where you're being used as a tool (e.g. a shovel) instead of being treated like a person (and run like heck)

Description: Programming entails a lot of different responsibilities on the job. We romanticize these responsibilities by likening them to prestigious roles in other industries: We say devs act like engineers, scientists, academics, detectives, philosophers, etc. At worst, we liken devs to rockstars, ninjas, and gurus. Sheesh, there's gotta be a better way. In this talk, I'll use code samples and other content to help listeners identify where they're plumbers, first responders, legislators, and repairpeople. This way we can approach programming with more humility and/or few feelings of intimidation!
