Slack Shortcuts and Features (10 min)

Use Google to go find at least one online resource detailing keyboard shortcuts and/or features that are built into Slack.

  • What resource(s) did you find? Paste them below:
  1. https://www.shortcutfoo.com/app/dojos/slack-mac/cheatsheet
  • What are three Slack shortcuts and/or features that will contribute to your productivity?
  1. (cmd + /) will be a good shortcut to memorize right now to help me pull up keyboard shortcuts
  2. (cmd + .) seems like a good tool to show/hide the thread panel
  3. (option + up or down) allows me to scroll channels quickly which will help me avoid using the mouse/pad to look through channels

The idea of the staging area is frequently one of the trickiest concepts to wrap your head around when you're first learning git. Read the question and answers (or do your own Googling on the git staging area). Then, create your own metaphor comparing the staging area to something in real life.

  • Type your metaphor below: I see the staging area like a bullpen in baseball. You can have relief pitchers warming up their arms in the bullpen ready to go in the game. You aren't obligated to put them in the game just because they're warming up. Perhaps the pitcher starts to throw for a minute and he says his arm is hurting so you can put him back on the bench instead of committing to putting him in the game.
