I (Kang Seonghoon) have provided several translations to Github in light of the metatron incident, as Github staffs keep the investigation. I've reproduced my crude translations below (modulo formatting).

It's mostly Korean who have been attracted to this issue so I comment here in Korean.
저는 이 프로젝트의 Owner 역할 맡고 있는 사람으로써,
저희 개발자 걱정을 해주시는것에 대해 참으로 감사하게 생각하고 있습니다.
I'm acting as the Owner of this project and I greatly appreciate your consideration to our team [unsure, lit. "developers"].
하지만, 여러분들이 안좋게 생각하고, 조롱(?)하고 있는 이 프로모션에 저는 암묵적으로 동의했고,
심지어 제 페이스북 피드에 링크를 공유까지 했습니다. 제 지인들에게는 한번 눌러달라고 협박(?)도 하곤 했습니다.
But I did implicitly approve to do this promotion that you dislike and even ridicule (?)
to the extent that I shared the link in my Facebook feed and persuaded (?) friends to click that.
물론 이 프로모션을 통해 이렇게 많은 분들이 star 를 눌러주실지 몰랐습니다.
이런 갑작스런 상승은 저도 당황스럽고 치팅하는것 같이 보여질것 같다는 생각도 했습니다.
(이런 건 당연히 github에도 알고 있고, 현재 이정도 상승율인데 trend 순위에 나타나지도 않습니다.)
Of course I honestly didn't know that so many people clicked star through this promotion.
I was not prepared of this sudden increase and did think of the possibility that it looks like abusing
(of course Github knows of such things [unsure, probably "monetary promotion to boost stars"?] and
we don't even appear in the Trending with these many stars).
사실 저희는 약 4년째 이 프로젝트를 개발하고있고 오픈소스로 전환한지 1년이 넘어가고 있습니다.
In fact we are working on this project for about 4 years and have switched to open source one year ago.
그동안 이 프로젝트가 유지될수 있었던 것은 내부 구성원들의 치열한 생존 싸움을 이어가고 있었다고 자부합니다.
국내에서.. 특히 대기업내에서 이런 오픈소스 프로젝트가 유지될수 있을 것으로 생각하는 이는 거의 없을 것이라고 생각합니다.
I'm confident that this project can only be sustained by continued fight against internal politics.
No one could expect that this kind of open source projects can be sustained in Korea---especially in a big telco.
이런 환경속에서 저희로써는 매년 매순간 이 프로젝트가 잘 될 수 있다고 증명해야했고,
그 중 하나가 star 의 개수였습니다.
In this environment it was essential to prove that this project is going well at any moment and
one of the metrics was the number of stars.
다행히 회사의 명성(?)을 등에 업고, 그리고 주변 팀의 도움을 받아 전부터 컨퍼런스에서도 프로모션을 진행했었습니다.
다른 유명한 프로젝트도, 일종의 프로모션을 통해 알리려고 노력하고 있다고 알고 있어요.
Thanks to the company's fame and other teams we ran promotions in conferences as well.
As far as I know other famous projects do some kind of promotion to promote the project.
