Strengths and Storytelling Reflection

Strengths & Storytelling Reflection Guidelines

Build on your professional story by thinking about how you're progressing at Turing. Answer the questions below in your own gist to use your StrengthsFinder themes to add to your story:

  • Look at your initial StrengthsFinder reflection that you completed in week 1 -- how have your perceptions of the top 5 themes changed?

The largest takeaway I have from rereading my themes has to do with the Intellection theme and it's relation to the Introvert/Extrovert spectrum we learned about. I think this combined with my theme of Ideation really help to explain why I fall where I do on the spectrum. My mind is always processing, thinking, and in order to better communicate I have to learn to better express those abstract thoughts.

  • How are you different today than when you first started at Turing? Where are you stronger now than on day 1?

I know an immense amount more about OOP and how networking and such is essential to finding a job in the industry. I think my fascination with programming is even stronger now than when it was at Day 1 because I can visualize what more experience and learning will do to expanding my potential.

  • Considering how you describe these themes, how do you want others to see you as you continue to progress through Turing?

I want people to see me as a more invested reliable peer in the Turing culture. I know my attendance has been less-than adequete thus far but I really have faith that I can turn that around. It's all about learning to become independant as this is my first time on my own.

  • How might these themes play a role in describing your Turing story?

Themes of ideation and competition come into play when describing how I proved to myself that I could be a developer; the Intel Science/Engineering Fair I participated in last year with a project in python that I won first place in Comp Sci with.

  • Even though your Turing story isn't finished yet, what do you envision for your development in future mods? How will this story end?

I really hope I can get into cyber security. I'm signed up for several Denver meetup groups involving Network Security, Threat Detection, etc. and it looks great for not only networking but using that as a good boost at getting into the field.
