I reccomend installing these 1-3 at a time to see if they work together. The biggest conflicts (or the only one I would say to look out for instead of installing all at once) are any mods that require the version.dll
file for loading Read Dead Online content (this is super out of date and does not work well. I'll list my preferred "extra content" that also includes a ton of the online mods)
EDIT: I actually have version.dll in here my main dir too along with everything else without conflicts, but YMMV
Additionally, for the "Buyable Properties" mod: It's best to install that one in the epilogue, as it can cause some issues with the story missions. Although the updates seem to say that it works with the story, but I never used it until the epilogue. Nonetheless, fucking awesome mod.
A must have/must use if you forgot to save/want to bypass the shitty intro for a full completionist playthrough.
For example, to skip to chapter 2, I use this collection:
TODO: add more links here
Make sure after installing the majority of these mods that these .dll files exist in your root game directory
dinput8.dll
ScriptHookRDR2.dll
NLog.dll
EasyHook.dll
EasyHook64.dll
EasyLoad64.dll
SimpleHook.dll
version.dll
OutfitChanger.dll
For SteamDeck users, add this to your launch options (Go to Steam, Right click on Read Dead, Click Properties) to load the dlls:
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8,ScriptHookRDR2,NLog,EasyHook,EasyHook64,EasyLoad64,SimpleHook,version,OutfitChanger=n,b" %command%
Note: These are needed for many of the mods listed. Install these first
- Lenny's Modloader
- Note: This comes with a modloader. I do not use it (I initially set everything up on the deck, and everything works without the modloader-- just drag and dropping into your game directory (definitely make a backup first))
- ScriptHookRDR2 V2
- Use this instead of the original one many mods will point to: ScriptHookRDR2 -- it hasn't been updated in a while. The v2 version is updated more frequently
Create a folder named lml
in your game directory. No need to start the modmanager included. After, as you install the mods below (read the installation process, and click on the "Requirements" to make sure you've downloaded them, although everything should be listed above), the ones that use Lenny's ModLoader will have instructions to just drag and drop into the lml
folder.
- AMJM Transport
- Probably my favorite mod. Let's you use some of your hard earned cash to buy a train, boat, or stagecoach. You can use them for jobs or to fish/hunt. The jobs are super immersive and fun. This is by far my favorite mod.
- Young Clean Arthur
- Awesome mod that makes Arthur look younger and cleaner.
- Dog Companion
- What more is there to say? You get a dog companion :D
- Automatic Greet Replies 1.1
- A must-have for me. I love the immersion of the game, and this mod makes it so much better. It's a small thing, but it's a big thing. Sometimes the mod will trigger during a mission and break immersion, but not a huge deal.
- Duels
- Makes it MUCH more easier to duel people talking shit. Very fun and immersive lol
- Hide Lasso On Horseback
- Just an awesome immersion mod that pairs well with the next one
- Horse Holster
- Adds a horse holster which is AWESOME.
- Hunting Wagon
- Adds a hunting wagon you can summon like a horse with a long whistle or summon from a camp you set up in the wilderness. So good for stacking all your hunting stuff.
- Buyable Properties
- This is a must-have for me. I love the immersion of buying properties. It's a bit buggy, but it's so worth it. I recommend installing this in the epilogue, as it can cause some issues with the story missions. Although the updates seem to say that it works with the story, but I never used it until the epilogue
- Instant Travel Patch
- While you have Rampage Trainer* which has fast travel, this is more immersive and not an immediate "teleport to waypoint." You set a waypoint, go into cinematic mode, and can press x to fast travel. It skips the travel but let's time pass. It's a great mod to have.
- RampageTrainer* (which use use use! If you've played through the story before, this is fun for messing around, adding honor back, spawning zombies/massive wars, godmode, adding outfits or weapons you downloaded but aren't visible in the shop catalogue, etc. Will also let you unlock console-exclusive/Special/Legendary Edition Exclusives (the bank robberies and other camp activity side missions are AMAZING that I never encountered without unlocking these first. Again, this is for the Rampage Trainer))
- Rampage Trainer
- See above. Essential to have. Do not use Lenny's Simple Trainer. It sucks, and is very outdated.
- StashThatLantern
- let's you pull out your lantern and throw it on your belt. Awesome, not sure why this is only in story missions and not a feature of the game
Going to just list the rest and format it nice later on
- NoHolstering
- RestoredCutContent-Quiver
- RestoredCutContent - Get all the dialogue ones and all the other cut content restoration ones
- TieYourLasso - This adds a whole new system to the game where you can tie up people to trees and stuff. I don't really use it but it was a prereq for another mod. TODO: add this to prereqs
- PedDamageOverhaul - This is a must-have for me. It makes the game so much more immersive. I love the immersion of the game, and this mod makes it so much better. It's a small thing, but it's a big thing. Sometimes the mod will trigger during a mission and break immersion/make it super hard (your allies will start dropping like flies around you), but not a huge deal. Use the keybind to disable it during missions
LML Mods (Screenshot) TODO: add these as pretty format later
Note: if not showing up here, just look above to the screenshot
- Gun Tricks
- Note: I used this for a tiny bit after I installed it, but I haven't used it since. It's fun, but not essential.
- Bank Robberies
- This was fun to use a few times. The minigame is a bit repetitive, but it's a fun mod to have. I don't use it often.
