JavaScript room meeting

Topics for the upcoming meeting February 21st 1pm (-6 Central)

Comment and bring up any topics and Ill add them to the list.

#Topic List

  1. Room Challenges, should we continue having them, change the way we do them, or just consider it a good but complete experiment?
  2. Discuss our policy on job postings within the chat.
  3. Discuss adding and removing room owners
  4. Room sponsored/hosted game jam?
  5. Discuss improving the attitude towards users who use, need help with, or mention jQuery.
  6. Add a JS room specific trash room so we can untrash stuff.
  7. Room rules - do we need a site at all? Is it a good idea?
  8. Current room status - Did we address the concerns brought up last meeting, were there improvements or issues since? (think I covered @ziraks) (not sure if this should be the first topic or last)

Seems like the code challenges were kind of a bust. Should we look at doing them anymore, change what they are about or just leave it be?

As always, status. Improvements/escalations from last meeting, whether last meeting's points were addressed, etc.

If I'm available for the meeting I'd like to bring up how we respond to the mention of jQuery in questions.

  • The mention of jQuery shouldn't automatically grant you 'vamp status'.
  • Maybe we can gently guide someone to whatever library (if any) you think is better instead of just answering all questions with 'don't use jQuery'.

I know this isn't everyone, but some regulars (I don't remember who and it doesn't matter) seem to think that deriding anyone for mentioning it is practically room policy.

Idea stolen from python room: Add a JS room specific trash room so we can untrash stuff.
