Laurel’s experience is substantive and multifaceted. Prior to studying at Ada, they served as Campaign Director and Organizer for various progressive initiatives. In this role, they ensured the continual increase of campaign efficiency and effectiveness while retaining an unwavering attention to core values, mission, and objectives. Laurel was tasked with certifying that operations were compliant, reliable, and supportive of senior management confidence. Thus, with a career steeped in the marriage of managing operations and strategic planning, Laurel was immersed in the trends changing the industry of Data Management and Data forecasting. This fueled a profound interest in technology. Laurel hopes to work in adjacent areas after attending Ada Developers Academy: leveraging Big Data and Machine Learning to advance creative solutions for any issue before them.

Volunteer with “Family Promise” | Missoula, MT | 2016- Present
Family Promise is part of an Interfaith Collaborative. It provides shelter and resources to families experiencing houselessness in the Missoula area. After years of working with the city and across organizations, Family Promise organized the Missoula community in acquiring permits and funding for a dedicated building, now shared with the YWCA's women's shelter, whom works to empower women and fight racism in Missoula. Laurel helps to cooridinate sharing resources and donations with other likeminded nonprofits in Missoula, is a regular overnight host, and plans fun and engaging activities for youth entering the program.
