Quick laptop breakdown

Here's a comparison of the System76 Darter Pro 15" and the fanciest new Dell XPS 7390 13"

The Darter Pro

darter pro breakdown

$1507 with the add-ons of 16gb RAM, i7 processor, 3-year warranty, and 3-day rush assembly

The Dell XPS

dell xps breakdown

$1550 as configured with 8gb RAM, i5 processor, 1-year default warranty. To add the additional warranty:

dell warranty

Summary

  • Either machine's OS will need to be wiped in favor of Arch Linux (for auditing purposes)
  • These comparisons were made on the fly, there is a slightly cheaper System76 model at 14" (the Galago)... I'm not sure what specifications yall would be into on the Dell machine to begin with.
  • There is some potential that I'd be able to pick the laptop up in Denver (System76 is headquartered in Denver) instead of having to ship it. I've sent an email to System76 to see if this is possible.
