Good iPad apps for Ken

iPad Apps for Ken

  • Pocket: A really good read it later app for stuff you want to, well, read stuff later. Universal app and has a Mac app also.
  • Evernote: Pretty good note taking app. Lets you upload images containing text and it will index them and make them searchable. App is a little sluggish at times but the note taking view has some nice text formatting options you don't see else where. Again, there is an iPhone and Mac app.
  • Flipboard: A nice RSS/news reader.
  • Youtube: Good app for YouTube, obviously. Better than Apples attempt before they killed it off in my opinion. Shame it doesn't support airplay but still good.
  • Screens: The best Remote Desktop/VNC app there is. A bit pricey but well worth it if you remote into machines a lot. Is a universal app as well which is nice.
  • Textatic: A nice source code editor that can interface with Dropbox, an FTP server, or you local machine via WebDAV. Not universal which is disappointing; you gotta pay for the iPhone only version.

  • pinner: I hear the developer is a cool guy who doesn't afraid of anything.
  • Zite: great personalised news app. I prefer it over flipboard
  • Tweetbot is really nice though I haven't used the official app in a long time, so maybe it's good now
  • Spelltower is a fun word game
  • Noteshelf is good for notes, handwritten or typed
  • Newsify is the best Google Reader app, and cheap
  • if you're into crosswords then Arrow Words is pretty great
  • TV catchup is cool, all the freeview channels streaming for free
  • I also really like The Magazine but I might be alone there

No URLs, ain't nobody got time for that typing on an iPad.
