  • Your key take-aways OR how you're going to implement specific points (minimum 2):
  • When in doubt, any doubt or curiosity whatsoever: Google.
  • It's OK to google freqeuntly, in fact, it's probably mandatory in most cases. Even after learning.
  • Briefly describe (in your own words) each of the tips below AND provide an example of a search that captures the sentiment of the tip
  • Tip 2: Use quotes to look for an exact phrase. When looking for specific home rather than other homes that share street names or similar addresses "1675 S Yukon CT, XXXXX, XX, XXXXX"
  • Tip 3: Narrow down ambigous search results by using "-" to omit a word. For example, if trying to find a dog food that does not contain fish: dog food -fish
  • Tip 4: Use a colon to search within a specific site only. Such as looking for a specific article or topic in one news source: dog cures cancer:newyorktimes.com
  • Tip 9: Search for multiple words or phrases at once to narrow down results. "Edit privacy controls" or "limit audience"
  • Tip 13: Use terminology someone would when writing on a website. Insead of "my headache won't go away" try "cure stubborn headaches"
  • Tip 14: Use important words only to narrow search results. This goes back to the search formula we discussed in Mod 0, session 1: verb, noun and language or tool. For example, how to insert date HTML
  • Tip 17: Keep trying different phrases if you can't find what you're looking for. If "how to retrofit 7.5 canned lights" doesn't work perhaps try "retrofit recessed lighting installation 7.5 inches" or "7 and half inches" and on and on.
