This self-titled EP was the first sample of the Cryptic Conditions' sound. Only available as a bootleg distributed on BitTorrent, the group's unique sound nevertheless caught on among enthusiasts, eventually landing them a major signing.

Their first full-length studio album, Trust Limits, came at a time of transition for the group, as founding members fought over whether they had "sold out" against their interest. The result is a darker album, blending the cerebral lyrics and multicultural melodies of their debut EP with harder, complex rhtyhms. Despite garnering critical acclaim, the album achieved only modest financial success.

After the departure of founding member Caleb Fincent, the group went back to basics with their second studio album, Alice and Bob. The poppier, more lighthearted tone of the hit single, "Universal Mode", topped charts across the globe, with the group playing sold-out shows in venues from Frankfurt to Luxembourg to Abu Dhabi.
