A journal of the experience in the Refacktor Track - Week 3, Mod 4 @ Turing School.

##Monday
I wasn't sure what to expect out of this project track. I felt like it was the less ambitious, but confident with my choice
As I sat down to make my goals, I started to feel a sense of relief that I could prioritize my own work for the week.
As the day went on, I knocked out some 'low-hanging fruit' and started the week off with a sense of accomplishment. I had a brief moment of freak out about the job search, and started frantically searching open postings. As I ended up the night, I really felt the weight of the last two weeks lift, as I know I made the right decision this week and am grateful for the opportunity to manage myself and my work.

##Tuesday

Long day today. It felt very productive. I knocked a bunch of things off the TO DO list.
Feeling more confident again today. Meeting with Bree was great. I'm narrowing down my career interests to the agency world, and wrestling with my inner self about not doing enough 'good' for the world, but allowing myself to be positive and excited because I want to! Plenty of good can be done while helping companies to grow and succeed. I think this will really do what I've been saying lately, 'Bring new ideas and products to market'. Bree sent me some quick intros this morning, and I'm super excited. Glad I built out the resume in html. Worked on Keith's site tonight, in preparation for our meeting tomorrow. Planning to chat with him about opportunities at Zenman.

##Wednesday

Spent all morning with Jasper today. Poor little guy. He did really well, but it was a traumatic watching/helping him come off the anesthesia. After he returned to himself, I was able to leave him with the nanny, and head off to Zenman. That was a great meeting! He's excited about the site, and I'm proud to create something professial that will be live soon. I asked him about opportunites, and a little to my surpise, he encouraged me to apply for the Lead Dev role, and immediately introduced me to the people who handle hiring. I'm excited and nervous about getting my application package together. Working on Lauren's prototyping assigment late this evening. What a great process! I really wish there had been more of this all along, and this also reinforces where my interests are in this world.

##Thursday

Today was full of ups and downs. I had two meetings that were rescheduled and that's fine, but for me, that always means a nutty day where you have to roll with the punches. I dug back into real time for a bit, and fixed a couple things, but realized I would need to do a complete refactor to really fix the refresh bug. Totally disappointed in myself for this project, and that was reinforced by my eval where I 'failed'. However, I'm feeling extremely grateful for my teaching staff for talking through my concerns, weaknesses, and goals to finish out the program, and really looking forward to my capstone now. I was counting down the days (and I still am) but now just because I miss my kids, and not because I'm dreading the work. I had a productive meeting about MindSpark, and I'm looking forward to building the next chapter. Then I had a great meeting with Jeff, where my instinct to follow the agency track was again reinforced as a viable and legit choice.

##Friday

Friday was, as always, a light coding day. Great lesson from Brittany about git hooks and pro tips, but I had to get out my cover letter to Zenman. I probably shouldn't have shipped that on Friday, but it gives me a good excuse to follow up at the beginning of the week and be sure they recieved everything they need. I spent some time whiteboarding my ideas for my capstone, and can't wait to really get started. I think I'm developing more of a design eye, but want to do some independent learning, the minute I have some time. Gear up was interesting, although I wish there had been more targeted discussion, rather than general. Spike was really fun. It brought me back to MindSpark programs, and the light in people's eyes when they tinker. It was nice to bring things full circle, in some way. To end the week with happy hour on the rooftop was delightful. It was nice to hang out with some staff as well. Jamie came and that was awesome. Good conversations and good times. Feeling good about the week - now to wrap up Refacktor-track this weekend!
